After making just two appearances, he suffered a ruptured ACL in his first start for the club — a setback that has kept him sidelined for most of the campaign.

According to the report, the two parties are moving toward an agreement to part ways, with the termination expected to be finalised soon.

The news comes at a particularly difficult time for Lamptey, as the 2026 FIFA World Cup draws closer. He was a key part of Ghana's squad at the 2022 tournament in Qatar and would have hoped to feature again in North America.

However, his persistent fitness issues and lack of game time have put his participation in serious doubt. For now, both Lamptey and Fiorentina are yet to make an official announcement, but the report suggests an exit is imminent.

Send your news stories to [email protected] and via WhatsApp on +233 546310076.

The candidates, drawn from 808 schools, are sitting the examination at 132 centres across the region. Of the total schools, 631 are public while 177 are private. Public schools account for 33,329 candidates, comprising 17,209 males and 16,120 females, while the private sector registered 3,782 candidates, made up of 1,817 males and 1,965 females.

Northern Regional Minister Ali Adolf John, during a tour of selected examination centres in the Tamale Metropolis and Sagnarigu Municipality, commended teachers and parents for their support in preparing candidates for the examination.

He urged candidates to remain calm, avoid examination malpractice and rely on their preparation, stressing that the examination is intended to assess students’ readiness rather than punish them.

Mr. John also advised invigilators to be professional, avoid intimidating candidates and ensure strict adherence to examination rules.

Regional Director of Education, Alhassan Alidu Jr, encouraged candidates to approach the examination with confidence, focus and discipline, while cautioning them against bringing unauthorised materials into the examination hall.

He further urged invigilators to remain vigilant against malpractice while creating a conducive environment for candidates throughout the examination period.

It was a source of pride for the Anyinase community and a key venue for top-flight football.

Football supporters in Anyinase have now appealed to the family of the late Mr. Brigidi, after whom the park is named, and the area's Member of Parliament, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, to help renovate and restore the stadium to its former glory.

The decline of the venue serves as a stark reminder of what can happen when clubs move away without putting measures in place to preserve their former homes. For the people of Anyinase, the hope is that the park can be revived and once again serve as a hub for the local community and grassroots football.

Send your news stories to [email protected] and via WhatsApp on +233 546310076.

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Roads and Transport has criticised delays in the construction of the Western Railway Line, demanding accountability from contractor Amandi Holdings Limited over what it says as significant performance gaps.

The committee’s concerns follow a working visit to assess progress on the project, during which members expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work and the apparent abandonment of key sections of the site.

The US$560million rail project, awarded in 2020, covers the construction of a 102-kilometre standard gauge line between Takoradi Harbour and Huni Valley. It also includes the conversion of a 10.6-kilometre dual gauge line between Takoradi and Kojokrom, as well as additional works stretching from Manso to Huni Valley, with eight stations along the corridor.

However, members of the committee questioned why critical portions of the project, particularly the Kojokrom to Manso stretch, remain incomplete despite substantial payments made by government.

Chairman of the Committee and Member of Parliament for Wassa East, Isaac Adjei Mensah, did not hide his disappointment, saying the contractor’s performance is unsatisfactory.

“I’m not impressed with the work. Amandi has a whole lot of performance gaps. When you look at the details of the contract and what they are doing, as far as I’m concerned, government has done enough in meeting its obligations,” he said.

He further criticised the contractor for failing to maintain momentum on the project despite changes in government and payment arrangements.

“They should have been able to address the critical section from Kojokrom to Manso. We are also disappointed that they have vacated the site,” he added.

Mr. Adjei Mensah accused the contractor of failing to meet expectations and raised concerns about the overall execution of the project.

As part of efforts to address the situation, the committee has tasked project consultants, TEAM Engineering SpA, to submit a comprehensive report detailing the status of the works, including any deterioration on completed sections.

“We have asked the consultants to provide a full report on the project and the extent of deterioration going forward,” the Chairman noted.

About the Western rail line

The Western Railway Line project, considered the largest single railway contract in Ghana’s history, was scheduled for completion within 42 months from its commencement in October 2020.

However, the timeline has not been met, with recurring delays and reported site abandonment raising concerns about the future of the project and its role in supporting Ghana’s rail transport and industrial development.

Entrepreneur and public figure Princess Burland has launched the Diya Impact Foundation, introducing a new health initiative dubbed Know Your Numbers to promote preventive healthcare and encourage regular medical screening across the country.

The foundation’s first project, scheduled for 16 May at Nyamekye Traffic Light Junction in Lapaz, Accra, will offer free BMI checks, hepatitis B testing, blood screenings and other essential health assessments to the public.

In addition, individuals without health insurance will receive free registration under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), helping to address one of the most overlooked barriers to consistent access to healthcare.

But beyond the services, the campaign carries a deeper message: “We’ve normalised guessing when it comes to our health,” Princess Burland explains. “People don’t know their numbers their blood levels, their risks, their status until something goes wrong. ‘Know Your Numbers’ is about changing that culture completely”.

In many communities, routine health checks are often postponed due to cost, fear, or lack of awareness. The Diya Impact Foundation seeks to confront this directly not only by removing financial barriers, but by reframing health awareness as an essential part of everyday life rather than an emergency response.

To encourage participation and create a welcoming environment, the initiative is supported by Pizzaman-Chickenman, offering complimentary meals for attendees a thoughtful integration of community, care, and accessibility.

However, this launch is not a one-off activation. It signals the beginning of a broader vision. The Diya Impact Foundation is built on a dual mission: improving access to healthcare while empowering individuals economically through business support and mentorship.

For Princess Burland, these two pillars are inseparable. “Health and financial stability go hand in hand. You can’t truly build or grow when your health is uncertain. And you can’t sustain good health without stability. This foundation is about addressing both”.

As African entrepreneurs increasingly move toward purpose-driven impact, Princess Burland’s approach reflects a more intentional evolution one where influence is not just measured by visibility, but by real, on-the-ground change. With “Know Your Numbers,” she is not just hosting a health screening. She is starting a conversation one that challenges people to pay attention, take action early, and prioritize their wellbeing without delay.

The hosts piled on the pressure and finally found their breakthrough in the 86th minute, as substitute Zhurun Liu levelled the scores to set up a frantic finale. Despite dominating possession and territory, Shanghai Port could not force a winner, and Ampem’s dismissal in the 90+8 minute killed any remaining momentum.

Ampem’s overall campaign still shows promise, with eight league appearances, one goal and one assist so far in the 2026 Chinese Super League.

Shanghai Port will now look to regroup quickly ahead of a tough away trip to Beijing Guoan on Sunday, May 10, where they will likely have to cope without their suspended Ghanaian forward.

Send your news stories to [email protected] and via WhatsApp on +233 546310076.

Deportivo Riestra struggled to create clear chances despite a spirited start, managing only one shot on target against Gremio’s well-organised back line. The visitors stayed compact, absorbed pressure and then punished their hosts in transition, with Amuzu’s direct running constantly unsettling the defence.

Martin Braithwaite came off the bench to add a third in the 73rd minute, finishing from a Cristian Pavon assist to seal the points and cap a dominant performance.

The result keeps Gremio in a strong position in Group F as they continue their push for knockout qualification. Luis Castro’s men now turn their attention back to Serie A, where they host Flamengo on Sunday, May 10, in what promises to be a major early-season test.

Send your news stories to [email protected] and via WhatsApp on +233 546310076.
